JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police arrested two men who reportedly admitted they had been out "hitting cars and stealing stuff."
Shortly before 1:30 Saturday morning, officers responded to a theft in progress at an apartment complex in the 100-block of Leggett.
When police arrived, they found 10 men standing in the parking lot, holding down another man.
The men said they had seen the suspect and another man "pulling up on door handles," trying to get into vehicles.
When the men tried to stop them, the two suspects tried to run away, according to the initial incident report.
The men caught one of the suspects, later identified as 18-year-old Anthony Ray Tevlin, and held him until police arrived.
Officers found the second suspect, 18-year-old Christopher Shawn Oliver, just south of the apartment complex on North Rogers Street.
During questioning, according to the incident report, Oliver said he and Tevlin had been "hitting cars" and "stealing stuff."
Oliver reportedly said he and Tevlin had broken into approximately 15 cars.
Both men were arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
On Monday, Oct. 19, a district court judge found probable cause to charge both men with felony breaking or entering/articles from a vehicle and misdemeanor theft of $1,000 or less from a vehicle.
Tevlin was also charged with misdemeanor possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance less than 4 ounces.
