JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Red Wolves improved to 2-0 in conference play and moved their record into above .500 territory with a victory over the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns on Tuesday night at Centennial Bank Stadium.
Arkansas State jumped out to an early lead and limited Louisiana-Lafayette's star runningback Elijah McGuire to under 20 yards in the first half and took a 34-14 lead into halftime.
The Cajuns rallied in the second half to pull close but the Red Wolves were able to hold on to the victory and gain an advantage in the Sun Belt Conference race over their rivals.
The game was nationally televised on ESPN2.
A-State will not play on Saturday and awaits its next game against Georgia State in Jonesboro on Saturday, October 31.
