JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A student at Arkansas State University flew a drone over Centennial Bank Stadium during Tuesday night's football game, according to an Arkansas State University Police report.
In the report, Officer Jarrod Long spotted a drone "flying above the guest seating on the southwest side of the stadium."
Long said the drone, with red and green flashing lights, flew around parts of the stadium before it descended into a nearby parking lot. An officer found the operator of the device in the parking lot.
The student told officers he was unaware he could not fly the drone over the stadium.
"We told him should the drone have mechanically failed at the moment it was above the crowd, it could have easily become a projectile that could have struck someone causing serious injury," the narrative stated.
Police also told the same student to stop flying drones near residence halls in February, when officers investigated complaints from University Hall students.
Officers told him Tuesday night he is not to fly the drone on campus any longer.
Police cited the student on university student referral for conduct violation.
