A-State Men’s Golf Stands Second at Fall Beach Classic; Garner Leading Field

GULF SHORES, AL (astateredwolves.com) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team shot a first-round 293 Sunday at The Peninsula Golf &?Racquet Club to complete the 54-hole A-State Fall Beach Classic’s opening day in second place among 11 teams.

The Red Wolves were led by senior Seth Garner, who carded a 70 to put him atop the leaderboard.  A-State had seven players finish the first round among the top-26 individual leaders, helping the squad finish the first round just three strokes behind leader Auburn.

Following Garner for the Red Wolves, Cameron McRae, who is competing as an individual, is tied for second place after posting a 71.  Also making his way into the top-10 standings was Andrew Huseman after posting a 73 that put him in a tie for seventh place.

Oswin Schlenkrich and Tanner Napier both shot a 75 to end the day tied for 18th place, while Joel Wendin and Matt Loiacano both recorded a 76 to finish tied for 26th.  Also competing for the Red Wolves, Trent Jones is tied for 35th place after shooting a 78.

Following Auburn and Arkansas State, Tennessee Tech is in third place with a 298 and New Orleans and Little Rock are tied for fourth with a 301.

The A-State Fall Beach Classic will continue Monday with the second round.
