A Better Region 8: Chamber celebrates 100 years

I love seeing Jonesboro through the eyes of people who only visit once in a while.  The last time I had a family member visit from out of town, they proclaimed "Every time I visit you, there’s another business, a newly paved road and growth everywhere you look."

I always tell them that the growth we're experiencing is no accident.

This year, the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrates 100 years. The roots of the Chamber go back more even more than that with a group called the Businessmen's Club of Jonesboro.  They worked to improve the economy, grow businesses and progressed as an organization.

In 1915, W.D. Self was elected the first President of the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce. In 1954 their slogan was "Jonesboro, ready for tomorrow."  I think they got that right.  Watch this video to learn more about the 100-year history of the Chamber:

The modern-day Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce is passionate about growing our economy and making Region 8 better. They are on the forefront of everything from manufacturing, to education, new road projects, and adding jobs to Region 8.

I am really excited to see what  they have in store for the next 100 years!  Congratulations to the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce for being such a vital part of growth across all of Region 8 over the last 100 years.

Having the vision, the drive, and the passion to grow our economy and businesses makes our great quality of life even better, and it makes this A Better Region 8.
