JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The price of gasoline is continuing to drop in Arkansas.
The average price fell 6.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2 per gallon Sunday, according to price website GasBuddy's survey of 1,826 gas stations in Arkansas.
The national average fell 5.2 cents per gallon in the past week.
Prices Sunday were 85.6 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago. They were also 2.8 cents lower than one month ago.
The national average was 83.9 cents lower than on the same date in 2014.
Jeff Pelton, GasBuddy's petroleum analyst for the Northeast, said the good news for drivers should extend into next month.
"As refineries finish up their planned, and in some cases unplanned rounds of maintenance, gasoline should return to the pumps at very high levels," Pelton said. "That, coupled with the lower demand that comes with the fall season, should push November retail prices to fall another 10 to 12 cents."
