JPD: Thief entered garage through doggie door

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A thief with dogged determination did not let a locked door prevent him from breaking into a man's garage and stealing from his vehicle. According to police, he just used the doggie door to get inside.

The victim told police he discovered the break-in at his home in the 1300-block of Vine Street around 5:30 a.m. Monday.

The man said he noticed the back garage door, which he had locked before going to bed the night before, was open.

According to Officer Dustin Smith's incident report, it appeared the suspect entered the garage through a large doggie door.

Once inside the garage, the suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and rifled through the center console before stealing a Tootsie Roll tube containing approximately $20 and a baby bottle filled with change.

Smith reported finding two $1 bills and the baby bottle in the backyard. He collected the bottle as evidence.
