Wardell man charged with murder after shooting

WARDELL, MO (KAIT/AP) -

A man is in jail accused of murder after his neighbor was shot and killed.

Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell says Russell E. Gray Jr., 46, of Wardell was shot Thursday. It happened at Gray's residence in the 200-block of Back Street around 6 p.m.

Gray was taken to a Hayti hospital where he later died.

Paul Wayne Rudd, 51, of Wardell shot Gray in front of his home Greenwell said.

Rudd was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Gray.

Rudd was arraigned Monday and was ordered to be represented by a public defender, who did not immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.

He is being held without bond.

Rudd's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 12.
