BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A Blytheville woman was shot in the thigh Sunday night while trying to pick up her children’s clothes from her boyfriend’s house.

Police responded to Great River Medical Center around 9:15 p.m. Sunday in reference to a gunshot victim.

The woman told officers she went to her boyfriend’s house in the 200-block of Eastwood to pick up some of her children’s clothes after picking the kids up earlier in the day.

According to a press release from Captain Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department, the woman said she was trying to get into her car when she heard two gunshots.

She said she felt a burning sensation in her right leg and realized she had been shot. The woman drove herself to the hospital.

Officers said they saw two bullet holes in the woman’s car that was parked at the hospital.

The news release states one round hit the left, front fender and traveled toward the driver’s side door.

The other round was in the left front grille of the car and a projectile was lodged in the radiator.

The woman was hit in the lower thigh area, but a doctor was able to remove the projectile from her leg.

No arrests have been made in this case.
