JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Two children killed in a Jonesboro house fire Wednesday have been identified. Another man was injured in the blaze.

According to Craighead County Coroner Toby Emerson, Sylar Hill, 4, and Dawson Popejoy, 1, died as a result of the fire.

Emerson said the bodies of both children have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine cause of death.

One child was reportedly pronounced dead and the scene and the other at a local hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the 700-block of Freeman Street around 3:50 p.m. for the fire.

“It’s awful,” neighbor Sherry Russell said after finding out the first child had died. “I think it could have been my kids.”

Russell said she had played with the children outside before.

“They were cute,” Russell said. “When they first moved here one of them was a few months old and the other one was around 2, the same age as my grandson.”

Russell’s house also sustained damage from the fire. She explained that she happened to be out of the house when the fire started though.

"If my daughter hadn't just got out of the hospital today, we would have been home," Russell said.

Russell said there is a lot of smoke damage to her home and that and fire officials told her that she would not be able to go back into the house on Wednesday.

Landlord Charles Warren described the incident as very upsetting.

"They seemed like great kids...you know it's um...it's a bad day," Warren said. "A bad day."

Warren said the damage to the duplex is trivial.

"I don't give a damn about the property," Warren said. "The kids are what I'm concerned about. To lose two children is bad."

We do not know the extent of the man's injuries at this point but he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The Jonesboro Fire Department has also not yet released the cause of the fire.

The origin of the fire has also yet to be determined. However, fire crews were seen focusing their attention on the living room.

A family member says a GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral and burial expenses.
