Police: Bronze vases stolen from Region 8 cemetery

WYNNE, AR (KAIT) - Grave concerns in one Region 8 community after police say someone ransacked a cemetery, stealing several bronze vases.

According to a Wynne police report, someone tossed flowers and figurines and stole bronze vases from Crosslawn Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 27, around 5:50 p.m.

Police say the crooks stole 25 vases, valued at $200 each.

Kernodle Funeral Home owns the cemetery. According to the report, when they checked the area a week before, they found no sign of stolen vases.

Leslie Rowland, whose father is buried at the cemetery, said the whole town is disgusted.

"This is an unpardonable sin," Rowland said. "The people in Wynne are not going to put up with this kind of stuff."

Kaye Butler, secretary at Kernodle Funeral Home, said nothing like this has ever happened.

"The cemetery has been there since 1969 and we've never seen anything like this," Butler said.

The Wynne Police Department asks anyone with information on this crime to call 870-238-8718.
