JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Equip K-12 Academy in Jonesboro held an open house Thursday evening in celebration of the grand opening of their new facility.
The new building, located at 1607 Stone Street in Jonesboro, offers growth opportunities for the non-profit organization.
Equip K-12 Academy provides services to kids with autism and developmental delays. According to the Academy, their mission is to enable students with autism to live independent and contributory lives.
Marie Ray is the Educational Director for the Equip K-12 Academy. She explained that the new building means they can now help more families.
"Being in this new facility means that we can go from 15 children to 45 spots so that's quite a significant difference from what we were able to do previously," Ray said. "It's just another way to reach out and help those families and support those families with children with autism."
Along with the curriculum, the facility offers a sensory gym. According to Equip K-12, sensory breaks are tailored to each student's needs throughout the school day to help students be more attentive for learning.
Ray said if you have questions about whether your child can benefit from the Equip K-12 Academy, give them a call at (870) 932-5551 or visit their website.
The organization started in 2009.
