JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Investigators say they still do not what caused a fatal house fire that claimed the lives of two young children.
On Wednesday, Nov. 18, Division Chief of Fire Marshal Craig Davenport told Region 8 News the cause remains "undetermined."
He said after checking everything investigators found "no reason why the fire should have started where it happened."
Davenport said "anything" could have started the fire on Freeman Street that killed two young boys.
It is the fire started in the living room.
Fire Marshal Jason Wills does not believe the fire was intentional. They have not found a good ignition source.
The fire, at 708 Freeman Street, claimed the lives of 4-year-old Sylar Hill and 1-year-old Dawson Popejoy.
Justin Howard was also injured in the fire.
On Monday, Wills said Howard was released from the hospital.
He said they are still working to figure out what started the fire.
They did find a smoke detector in the house during their investigation.
Wills said it was it was lowly chirping in a drawer.
