GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Greene County Sheriff Davis Carter is calling for help in the department, but this time for an officer with 4 legs.
Carter recently asked the Greene County Quorum Court to add money to the department's budget for a K-9 unit.
Currently, the department uses the K-9 unit from the Paragould Police Department and sometimes the Marmaduke Police Department, but Carter thinks having one for the county would be beneficial.
The Paragould unit helps with drug busts and jail searches.
"What I told the court is not only could we use it for drugs, it is universal and a very good tool to have," Carter said.
Carter said many people in the community and several members of the council like the idea, so he hopes the funds are approved.
