WILSON, AR (KAIT) - A Rivercrest High School Football player who was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital after being suspected of having a spinal cord injury has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery according to Rivercrest Head Coach Kelly Chandler.
Chandler told Region 8 Sports on Saturday afternoon that Defensive Tackle/Tackle Dylan Trapp would not be allowed to have any contact until he is re-evaluated but all signs are good after tests were run and that he'll be re-evaluated by doctors soon.
It's still uncertain exactly what caused the injury to Trapp. Video from Football Friday Night and the Rivercrest game film don't show clearly what might have caused the scary situation. Precautions were taken because of the nature of the player's injury.
Friday night, Trapp went down and lay motionless while being treated by medical personnel for several minutes before being taken into an ambulance. Corporal Jeff Rumbaugh with the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department told a Football Friday Night videographer that he was transported to Le Bonheur in Memphis but was responsive before being transported.
Chandler added that the outpouring of support for Dylan had been tremendous.
