SIKESTON, MO (KAIT) -

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is searching for a suspect after a Saturday afternoon assault left one person with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers were called out to the 1300-block of West Murray Lane around 12:50 p.m. Saturday for a person being shot.

Officers found Raymond Mitchell, 27, with gunshot wounds to his torso.

Mitchell was flown to an area hospital by Air Evac Lifeteam.

He underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

The Southeast Missouri Major Case Squad was activated and police learned the shooting actually took place in the 400-block of South New Madrid.

Police obtained search warrants and interviewed a person who was in the home when the incident took place.

Police are now looking for the other person involved in the incident as a person of interest.

They are searching for Cameron Matryl Woods, 22, of Fresno, California.

Woods is also wanted out of California for a traffic offense.

Police haven’t found the weapon involved in the shooting and they think Woods may be armed.

Anyone with information on Woods is asked to call the Sikeston Department of Public Safety at 573-471-4711. All tips can remain anonymous.
