Police investigating two cases of counterfeit money

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police are investigating two incidents of someone using counterfeit money this weekend.

Officers were called to Harp’s Food Store, 2005 Harrisburg Road, around 8:40 a.m. Saturday in reference to counterfeit money.

A manager told police that his customer service manager had found two fake $10 bills in a register.

Using a log of all the transactions, the manager pulled up security video to look at all payments of at least $10.

He only found one transaction where a person passed two $10 bills.

According to the Jonesboro police report, the security footage shows a very clear picture of a black man who is about 6 feet tall and wearing a black leather hat and a black jacket.

Police were then dispatched to KFC and Taco Bell, 133 Southwest Drive, around 9:21 a.m. Saturday for a counterfeit $20 bill.

The bill was found Friday night between 8:30 and 9 p.m.

The employee who found the money did not know who gave it to him.

There are no suspects in either incident.

If you have any information, you can contact the Jonesboro police anonymously at 935-STOP.
