McClung, others file for Clay County office

CLAY COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A former Clay County sheriff wants his job back.

Gerald McClung filed his candidacy for sheriff/tax collector, according to an email from Clay County Deputy Clerk Sharon Bellers.

He will challenge Sheriff Terry Miller who won election last year.

The filing period ended at noon Monday, Nov. 9.

The primary election will be held on March 1, 2016. Runoffs are scheduled for March 22. The general election will be held on Nov. 8.

The unknown man fled the scene on foot with an unknown amount of cash. The surveillance pictures show the suspect in the store and outside.
