BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 churchgoers were surprised and disappointed at Sunday morning services when they found someone had stolen items intended to help those in need.
The Craighead County Sheriff's Department responded to the Christian Life Center in Brookland where Pastor Scott Trayler discovered two buildings had been broken into.
The items stolen included a small refrigerator and toys that were donated for underprivileged children.
"It's just one of those kinds of things where you're trying to help other people and then someone does something like this, of course, I'm concerned for them," Pastor Trayler said. "What would make somebody come to a church to do that?
Pastor Trayler said he is thankful no one was hurt during the theft. He does intend to increase their security around the church.
He said they are also working to replace the stolen toys before their toy drive on Dec. 12.
