RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Arkansas State Police are investigating a murder in Randolph County.

The body of John D. Hart, 48, was found alongside Harper Cemetery Road Tuesday morning.

According to ASP, he had been shot.

The body has been taken to the State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, deputies searched a home along the road and took a suspect into custody.

Several neighbors told Region 8 News they were shocked this happened in their quiet neighborhood.

"You know I moved out here because it is a nice quiet neighborhood and the next thing you know you hear about something bad like this happening just right down the road," Darrell Johnston said.

Johnston said many neighbors did not know what happened when the street was block Tuesday morning, but none of them guessed it would be murder.

"When I first heard about it I thought maybe someone got hit walking down the road," Johnston said. "But, come to find out, someone got murdered. That is pretty bad."

The unnamed suspect is in the county jail and will have a probable cause hearing Thursday morning.
