LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - Forecasters say strong and severe storms could develop as a cold front approaches portions of Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, said breaks in cloudy skies Wednesday afternoon could help produce storms across the Arklatex region. A few supercell storms could form, raising the risk for a tornado or two. A few damaging wind gusts are also possible.
Forecasters say additional storms could form from northwestern Arkansas into southwestern Missouri, though the risk is not as great there as it is in other portions of the central U.S.
Wednesday morning, forecasters had already posted a tornado watch for an area near Omaha, Nebraska; Des Moines, Iowa; and Kansas City, Missouri, as a storm system approaches from the west.
