JONESBORO, AR (A-STATE) – Arkansas State women's basketball coach Brian Boyer announced the signing of Atwood, Tenn., product Madison Heckert to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday afternoon.
Heckert prepped at West Carroll High School where her team went undefeated in the 13-A regular season in 2013-14 and advanced to the regional bracket of the Tennessee High School postseason tournament.
"Madison is a very gifted athlete," Boyer said. "Not only does she have really good size and length, but she can run the floor well and has very good balls skills for a post player (passing, catching and finishing around the basket). We're fortunate to add a post player with her ability to this recruiting class."
The 6-foot-4 forward averaged 13.4 points, 14.0 rebounds and had 174 blocks during her junior season at West Carroll. She earned All-West Tennessee Second-Team honors as well as receiving Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state all-district and all-region honors. She was also a finalists for the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Miss Basketball award.
Heckert also reached 1,000 points for her career during her junior season and added four triple-doubles throughout the season to go along with her double-double average.
