JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro woman faces felony assault charges after police say she attacked another woman with a tire iron.

Officers arrested Brandi Grimes, 21, Wednesday night on suspicion of aggravated assault.

According to the initial incident report, Grimes went to a home in the 5100-block of Woodsprings Road and got into a “verbal altercation” with the father of her child.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, reportedly witnessed the argument between Grimes and the man.

The man told police he thought Grimes had left the house but she returned “out of nowhere” and struck the other woman on top of the head with a tire iron.

The man said Grimes may have “jumped to conclusions” about his relationship with the victim and that’s why Grimes hit her, the report stated.

The victim went to a local hospital for treatment of her injury.

Police arrested Grimes a short time later at her home in the 1500-block of Matlock Drive and took her to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
