Aquatic complex construction is almost done and fees are set

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) -

Pocahontas’ new aquatic center is nearing completion and the city has set membership fees.

The estimated date for construction completion is Dec. 1. Pocahontas Mayor Kary Story said the city hopes to open the center sometime before the end of the year.

Inside the center, there is a therapeutic pool and an 8-lane competition pool. Outside, there are many activities for kids including a children’s play area, 2 slides and 2 diving boards.

The city agreed on membership fees this week. Indoor membership will be $250 for families and $125 for individuals.

Outdoor fees are set at $3 for kids and $5 for adults. The outdoor area will be open 3 months out of the year.

Story said the city is anxiously awaiting the opening.

“We are very excited about our aquatic complex coming,” Story said. “It should provide an excellent quality of life here in Pocahontas along with the other aspects that we have.”
