Region 8 nurses continue education at annual nursing conference

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Region 8 nurses and nursing students gathered Friday at St. Bernards Auditorium for the Annual Northeast Arkansas Nursing Conference.

The event, hosted by St. Bernards Medical Center, allows nurses to complete their continuing education credit.

“There's not a whole lot of opportunities for live, on site, continuing education events,” said Amanda McMillon, clinical nurse specialist for St.Bernards. “Nurses do have to have continuing education for their licensure. So, this is a way they can get some hours throughout the day”.

The conference included several guest speakers touching on various topics including "Advances in Treatment of Hyperacute Stroke;" "It's Dementia…Now What?;" "Population Health Management;" "Blood Management…The Bloody Truth;" and "Health Literacy: The Missing Link."
