Blytheville firefighters save dog, guinea pigs

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

Blytheville firefighters responding to a house fire Wednesday morning saved three lives. Specifically, a dog and two guinea pigs.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., the Blytheville Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 1000-block of West Walnut.

When they arrived, they found smoke pouring from the roof vents and windows.

Inside the home, firefighters found and safely removed a large dog and two guinea pigs. No one else was home at the time.

The home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage to the laundry room, where the fire reportedly originated.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
