Donations needed for Angel Tree children

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Some children in Region 8 need your help to have a merry Christmas.

The Angel Tree is up inside the Mall at Turtle Creek.

Captain Betty Price with the Salvation Army said there is a huge need in the area this year.

“We have over 820 children who need our help this year making Christmas magical,” Price said. “So, we encourage people to come by one of our trees and sponsor an angel because without the community’s support these children likely won’t have a Christmas.”

Children who receive Angel Tree gifts are from families who have applied for Christmas assistance through the social services program of the Salvation Army.

They are children who otherwise might not have anything for the holiday.

To sponsor a child, just go to the mall and select an angel off the tree. The age, gender and child’s wish list will be on the angel.

Drop off all of the gift donations at the Salvation Army Office located on Cate Street in Jonesboro by Dec. 14.
