STEELE, MO (KAIT) - An early morning traffic stop Wednesday resulted in an assault rifle, handgun and drugs packaged for sale taken off the streets of Steele.
Officer Jon Grays was on patrol when he reported hearing a gunshot, according to a news release from Chief Billy Joe Stanfield.
A short time later a man reported to police he had been shot.
During the course of the investigation, Pemiscot County sheriff's deputies and Grays stopped a vehicle driven by the shooting suspect.
Inside the car, Stanfield said the officers found a 9mm handgun, an SKS assault rifle, several rounds of ammunition and baggies of suspected marijuana packaged for sale.
Police arrested Jonathan Lewis Foreman, 29, of Steele and took him to the Pemiscot County Jail where he is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. His bond was set at $75,000.
Stanfield said Foreman could face further charges.
