BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

The City of Batesville Animal Control needs the public’s help identifying a man who dropped off a dog so sick it died before anyone could help it.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, “a group of individuals” abandoned the animal at their office around 5:30 Wednesday evening.

As photos from a surveillance camera show, the dog was so sick it was limp as the man placed it on the grass beside an animal control sign.

Then, as you can see, the man just walked away.

That's where the dog, which was in such "poor health and condition," died overnight.

According to animal control, the dog was left beside a sign with the department’s hours and phone number.

If you have any information that can help identify the man seen in these photos, call (870) 698-2424.
