CrimeStoppers announces their 2015 Person of the Year

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

CrimeStoppers announced Sgt. Cassie Brandon with the Jonesboro Police Department as their Person of the Year Thursday night.

Sgt. Brandon was recently moved into a role to further community outreach through JPD.

Thursday night, prior to the Citizen's Police Academy graduation, multiple CrimeStoppers board members surprised Sgt. Brandon with the award.

Brandon said she was honored to be given the award but said it's a team effort.

"Credit for this program and everything that we've done here goes to a lot more people than just me," Sgt. Brandon said. "I'm glad to accept the award on behalf of all the people that need credit."
That's not all Sgt. Brandon walked away with Thursday night. Her CPA students also presented her with a teddy bear in her likeness.

Sgt. Brandon started the Citizen's Police Academy in early 2015.
