INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A GR8 Job shout-out to the Cord-Charlotte Elementary Student Council and the Charlotte Church of Christ.

Like many schools in Region 8, Cord-Charlotte has a food backpack program, which was funded by the Arkansas Rice Depot, for hungry students.

And, like many other districts across the state, the school lost its Depot funding this year.

In order to help the program continue sending food home each week, the student council organized a food drive.

Principal Susi Epperson said the students collected more than 1,000 food items.

What’s more, she said the local Church of Christ heard about the backpack program and hosted their own food drive to support the school. They collected more than 1,000 food items as well.

GR8 Job to the students and the church.
