MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) - Rehab work on a Region 8 dam will mean a few traffic troubles for area motorists.

The Corps of Engineers will close one lane of Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam on Nov. 30 and then close both lanes Dec. 1-2 to install equipment to refurbish the tainter gates, according to a news release from the corps.

Once the equipment is in place, one lane will be open across the dam while work is performed.

Additional road closures, of up to 2 days, will be scheduled about every 8 weeks to move equipment as work progresses.

The lane closures will continue through May 2017.

According to the release, the closures have been coordinated with local emergency and law enforcement agencies.

Those traveling in this area should expect delays.
