Bikers donate Christmas gifts to Salvation Army Program

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Two local biker clubs partnered with the Salvation Army Saturday in a toy run for children in need.

Members of the Association Motorcycle Club and Arkansas Bikers Aiming Towards Education held their 31st annual toy run for Angel Tree Saturday morning.

The bikers rode in a single file line from the Harley-Davidson shop of Jonesboro to the St. Bernards Clopton Clinic.

Each motorcyclist arrived with a toy attached to their bike or a $10 donation.

Curtis Kirksey is the president of AMC and he said the goal is to provide underprivileged children with a special Christmas.

"You know, this may be the only Christmas they get," Kirksey said. "So, it's good to find it in your heart to give to somebody that may not have as much as you."

Kirksey said when the run began just 16 bikers participated. There was 150 riders there Saturday.

He said the record for bikers in previous years was 568 cyclists.

The goal next year is to top that.
