JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Craighead County sheriff's deputies arrested a man on multiple charges after they say he led them on a high-speed chase before crashing into a tree.
Grayson Lynn Dodson, 41, of Bono is charged with fleeing, speeding, and careless and prohibited driving.
According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy observed Dodson fail to signal a right turn from Gee Street onto Oakhurst around 11 p.m. Sunday.
When the deputy attempted to stop Dodson's pickup truck, he said Dodson pulled over twice before taking off when the deputy got out of his cruiser.
Dodson finally came to a stop on Puryear, the report stated.
The deputy opened the driver's side door of the truck and told Dodson to get out.
At that time, according to the report, Dodson "pushed his foot on the gas pedal" and sped off.
The deputy radioed for assistance and began chasing Dodson.
With his lights flashing and sirens blaring, the deputy followed Dodson to Huntington Avenue where he reported observing Dodson swerve away from an oncoming patrol unit.
At the intersection of Huntington and Gee Street, Dodson ran the stop sign and pulled in front of oncoming traffic.
Dodson traveled down Gee Street before turning right onto Washington Avenue. The truck exited Washington onto Highway 63 northbound "at which time speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour were reached," the report said.
Upon reaching the off ramp to Highway 91, Dodson exited the highway with deputies following.
Dodson's truck, according to the report, turned abruptly onto County Road 132 before turning right onto CR 127.
After turning onto CR 118, Dodson's truck reportedly left the road and struck several trees before coming to a stop.
The deputy requested an ambulance be sent to the scene, but after getting him out of the truck, Dodson refused medical treatment, the report stated.
Dodson was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center to await a probable cause hearing. He was also cited with a parole violation.
