JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - State agents fined a Harrisburg convenience store after they say employees sold booze and cigarettes to a teen.
Mapco Express #7317, 209 W. Jackson, received a $650 fine and 6 months' probation for selling alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to a 16-year-old minor, according to the Department of Finance Administration's Alcoholic Beverage Control Division.
Judicious Spirits, 3055 Hwy. 62 SW, Mountain Home, was also fined $400 and given 90 days probation for selling to a minor.
In other ABC news, during the Nov. 18 board meeting Director Gary "Bud" Roberts refused Mark W. McCoy's application to sell beer off-premises at The Pig, 7813 Hwy. 367 North in Bradford. The refusal came after the director received 505 signatures from area residents in opposition to the permit and the sheriff's objections.
Roberts granted a restaurant beer and wine permit for Iguanas, 1203 N. Illinois St. in Harrisburg, making it conditional upon installation of lighted fire exit signs and re-inspection by ABC Enforcement.
The director also approved a new small farm wine permit for Dollar General Store #7386, 329 W. Broad St. in Lepanto.
Meanwhile, CVS Pharmacy #10678, 1501 W. Kingshighway in Paragould, submitted an application for retail beer off premises and small farm winery-retail permits.
