JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 park is currently under construction where there soon will be a walking trail.
The Craighead Forest Park in Jonesboro is going to have a walking trail with workout stations every quarter of a mile.
Wixson Huffstetler, the director of Jonesboro Parks and Recreation, said several people visit the park to exercise.
Huffstetler said right now they use the road to walk, which can be dangerous sharing the road with drivers.
He said the walking trail will be safer for families.
"This was an idea that me and my staff had for more safety for children and adults, being able to walk out here and to be able to have a nice walking place along with being able to work out," Huffstetler said.
Huffstetler said they have received a federal grant for funding.
The project is scheduled to be complete in April 2016.
