Region 8 woman arrested for punching small child

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

Blytheville police arrested a woman after they say she slammed a boy’s head into the floor.

The attack happened in the 900-block of South Ruddle Street on Friday, Nov. 20, according to the incident report.

Police say Patrice Jenkins, 28, was playing with the 7-year-old child when a witness said she became “more and more aggressive.”

The witness told police Jenkins started “slamming” the child’s head “quite hard on the floor” and punched him in the face.

After assaulting the child, the witness told police Jenkins ran from the scene.

Officers arrested Jenkins on a charge of second-degree battery.

Emma Phillips is a neighbor. She was startled when she heard the details.

“A 7-year-old child can’t really do anything to defend himself,” Phillips said. “You should have a little bit more love and understanding and compassion when it comes to little children.”
