Routine inspection requires lane closures on I-55 Bridge

WEST MEMPHIS, AR (KAIT) -

If your travels take you to Memphis next week, you might want to consider taking Interstate 40 into the Bluff City.

A routine inspection of the I-55 Bridge over the Mississippi River between Arkansas and Tennessee will require lane closures, according to a news release from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

Starting Tuesday, Dec. 1, and continuing through Friday, Dec. 4, work will require crews to close the outside northbound and southbound lanes on the bridge between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Traffic will be controlled with warning lights and cones.

AHTD urges drivers to “exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.”

Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com.
