Employees and shoppers both gearing up for Black Friday

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

One of the busiest shopping days of the year is almost here and everyone is gearing up.

There was already two tents set up outside the JCPenney at the Turtle Creek Mall in Jonesboro.

Shoppers are not the only ones getting ready though; stores are also gearing up.

Employees at JCPenney have been working for weeks to prepare for Black Friday.

More than 100 people began tackling in October what managers call the “Super Bowl” of shopping.

Operations Manager Samantha Tucker said they will be working overnight to get everything ready for shoppers.

“We have about 15 people here today that are just in the stock rooms and we’ve got people coming in through the night just to get it looking pretty and crisp and ready to go,” Tucker said.

Several stores in Jonesboro will be beginning their sales Thursday evening.

As it has for almost 30 years, the Walmart superstore will be open 24 hours, but its sales will start at 6 p.m.

Best Buy is opening at 5 p.m. along with Toys “R” Us and JCPenney.

Target and K-Mart will be opening at 6 p.m..

Also opening at 6 p.m. is Macy’s, with its earliest holiday start ever.
