JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Trim Gym recently announced expansion plans for their location on Race Street.
In November, the Jonesboro city council approved a rezoning request for The Race Street Athletic Club, also known as The Trim Gym.
The Trim Gym purchased the lot next to theirs after Forest Home Church of the Nazarene was destroyed in a fire last year.
Trim Gym General Manager James Bickham said the expansion will better serve their ever-growing customer base.
"With Jonesboro growing the way it is and how many members we have, we thought it was the best time to go ahead and make that jump and add to the facility," Bickham said. "We're adding about 50,000 square feet altogether. We're going to add 20,000 square feet of just weight room and cardio."
New basketball courts are also planned. The tennis courts will be relocated as well.
"We want to service as many people as we can and we want to give our members now, and new members, the best facility that we can possibly give them," Bickham said.
Bickham said they hope to have the expansion complete by the middle of next year.
