SULPHUR ROCK, AR (KAIT) -

A train parked on a spur near Sulphur Rock had a chemical leak Saturday evening that briefly closed Highway 69 between Sulphur Rock and Newark.

Acetaldehyde was leaking from the train.

It is a colorless, flammable carcinogen used in perfumes and flavors.

Independence County officials said no evacuations were needed and the leak was not a threat.

By 10:30 p.m. Saturday, the train was still leaking but the road had reopened.
