SULPHUR ROCK, AR (KAIT) - A train parked on a spur near Sulphur Rock had a chemical leak Saturday evening that briefly closed Highway 69 between Sulphur Rock and Newark.
Acetaldehyde was leaking from the train.
It is a colorless, flammable carcinogen used in perfumes and flavors.
Independence County officials said no evacuations were needed and the leak was not a threat.
By 10:30 p.m. Saturday, the train was still leaking but the road had reopened.
