Free public information meetings to discuss the “working drafts” for watershed management plans for the upper and lower Cache River, lower Little River and Strawberry River have been scheduled. The meetings will be held in Jonesboro, and Ash Flat by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission.
The working draft watershed management plans are associated with voluntary efforts to reduce nonpoint source pollution. Farmers and other watershed landowners, county and municipal officials, community leaders, and representatives of groups and agencies interested in the watersheds are encouraged to attend.
*The upper Cache River Watershed meeting, focusing on the Cache River watershed upstream of Grubbs, will be in Jonesboro Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Forrest L. Wood Crowley's Ridge Nature Center, 600 E. Lawson Road.
*The lower Cache River Watershed meeting, which includes the river downstream of Grubbs, also will be held Dec. 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in McCrory at the Chappell Civic Center, 103 North Edmonds, which is south of Highway 64, in the downtown area.
*The Strawberry River Watershed meeting will be Dec. 10 in Ash Flat at Ozarka College, Lecture Hall, 64 College Dr. It begins at 10 a.m. and ends at noon.
