BROOKLAND, AR (KAIT) -

Families across Brookland can look forward to a very Merry Christmas.

All 85 families on the Brookland School District Angel Tree were adopted this year.

Monday morning faculty, students and parents met to unload food and gifts for more than 185 children from the Brookland School District.

Tressa Davis, Brookland Elementary counselor, said it is no surprise the community stepped up. “Feels great, great that our community and schools are involved in helping children in need,” Davis said.

Many are involved in making sure every family is taken care of off the Angel Tree.

Davis says Brookland sports teams, clubs, individual families, faculty and classrooms all pitched in to adopt someone off the tree. “It means they are loving, caring, and really want to show kindness to all in our community,” Davis said.

Brookland Parent Teacher Organization sponsored a district wide food drive.

Tuesday, parents will come by the Brookland Baptist Church to pick up the gifts for their children, along with a ham and 2 to 3 boxes of food for the holiday.

Davis said she is so thankful for those who helped give back to families in need.

The Brookland Angel Tree has been a tradition for more than 10 years.
