Fire breaks out at Jonesboro factory

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Multiple Jonesboro fire crews responded to a fire at the Thomas & Betts Corporation in Jonesboro Tuesday night.

Dispatch confirmed to Region 8 News the fire that broke out around 9:47 p.m. at the factory located at 5601 East Highland Drive.

According to Region 8 News crews at the scene, workers were evacuated from the building.

Assistant Jonesboro Fire Chief Alan Dunn told Region 8 News that a machine inside the building caught fire. Dunn explained that the machine puts a plastic coating on tools.

That fire then spread outside to the filtration system.

Right now, it's unknown why the machine caught fire.

Around 10:30 Tuesday night, the fire was under control according to Dunn.

Four fire trucks and three ladder companies responded to the fire.
