CASH, AR (KAIT) - A proposed one cent sales tax increase for the city of Cash passed Tuesday night during a special election.
The Craighead County Election Coordinator told Region 8 News that 28 people voted for the tax. Nine people voted against it.
Cash Mayor Michael Cureton previously told Region 8 News that he hopes the new bypass in town brings more businesses to the Cash area. He explained that with a new sales tax, more money would come into the town as well.
Mayor Cureton said he plans to use the money to make improvements to Cash by doing things like tearing down the old school and improving drainage ditches.
