Blytheville man robbed at gunpoint by 'friend'

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Blytheville man told police his friend robbed him at gunpoint because he "had to."

The victim said it happened around 11 p.m. Monday as he and the unnamed suspect were walking in an alley in the 300-block of Lake, according to a news release from Captain Scott Adams.

The man told officers "all of a sudden his friend turned to him" and said "I got to do it."

When the victim asked him what he meant, the suspect pulled out a black pistol and pointed it at him.

After telling the suspect he had nothing to take, the man struggled with his friend for the gun.

Eventually the victim ran from the scene.

The victim said "multiple people" had told him the friend had been involved in a recent shooting.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 870-763-4411.
