Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating suspicious activity involving the purchase of a large number of cell phones that are virtually untraceable once purchased.

There have been reports of these purchases in Lawrence County, Arkansas and Laclede County, Missouri.

Buying prepaid cell phones in bulk raises concerns because calls cannot be tracked; and they can be used for bomb detonation.

A similar incident took place in Michigan where suspects were arrested after they purchased a large number of cell phones.

Although there has been no direct link to any terror plots in the recent string of local purchases, law enforcement suggests people report suspicious activity to their local law enforcement.

Large cell phone purchases of this type have not only been linked to radical groups using them as detonation devices but also have been used In phone scams, sales of illegal drugs and selling to phones for profit.

Missouri Law Enforcement believes that a group or groups of individuals have been traveling through the area making these large purchases but law enforcement still has not connected the purchases to any known terrorism.

The F-B-I is investigating all of the incidents across the state.
