WALNUT RIDGE, AR - Airmen from World War II were in Walnut Ridge this past weekend for the Walnut Ridge Army Airfield Reunion.
The event was designed to honor airmen who trained at the base and flew in Europe or the Pacific.
Organizers say 60 of the 100 people who attended were connected to the base during its World War II service as either military or civilians.
In its time, the Army Air Corps training station in Lawrence County churned out hundreds of trainees before going off to fight the air war.
A museum has been organized at the site to mark the work that once took place there. The site is now the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport.
