NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) - Police in Newport are investigating after a man was shot Thursday evening.
According to the Newport Police Department, officers responded to the Hout Circle area around 6:30 p.m. in response to shots fired.
Police then received a call about a man taken to a Newport hospital with gunshot wounds.
Christopher Crite, 25, of Newport had sustained gunshot wounds, police stated in a news release.
An unidentified suspect shot Crite in the area where police were first called.
NPD said the victim was unable to tell officers who shot him. Bystanders in the area also could not identify the suspect.
Crite was taken to a Little Rock hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the shooting is underway.
